Exploring Base Ten Blocks

Before Thanksgiving break, 1st graders and McDole worked hard on counting base ten blocks. We used a variety of activities to explore longs and cubes.

We used base ten blocks to make the 1st letter of our names and counted up how much it was worth.

We also played games using longs and cubes. Students rolled their dice to make a number. For example, if I rolled a 6 and a 4 my number could be 46 or 64. Then I built my number with base ten blocks. Great practice!

1.NBT.2- Understand that the two digits of a two-digit number represent amounts of tens and ones.
